President's Day Project

Today we had the pleasure of joining Mrs. Backey for a fun project. The students studied pennies from different decades. We learned about the pictures and the words on the penny. Next the students sorted the pennies by decade. We discussed the oldest pennies and the newest pennies. The students found it funny to learn which decade the teachers were born in 😄 Each student graphed their data. Throughout our work we noticed some pennies were so dirty and discolored they were hard to read. Then the students started to conduct an experiment to see which cleaner will clean the pennies the best. We will have results of our experiment later this week.

The Students also learned a secret of mine on Friday!

Guest Readers Today

Members of the High School Key Club  came in today to read to us! Also, tomorrow your child can wear pajamas for $1.00. The proceeds that are raised are use to buy pajamas for local needy children. We also have Pop (popcorn) with a Cop tomorrow!

We've Been Busy Learning

Here are some pictures of us practicing words with Bossy E in a word hunt around our room. There are also pictures of us working with partners to read our nonfiction texts and identify the main idea and details of the article.

Last week we also took the STAR tests on the computer. We had pretty wonderful scores. I'm excited to share them with you next week at conferences.

100th Day Games

Here we are playing a guess the number game and how many things can you do in 100 seconds. In the picture the kids are counting how many times they can stand up/sit down. Have a great weekend!
