Today we read the book, Grandfather Tang's Story. The story is about a Chinese man who tells his granddaughter a story. As he tells the story he builds animal shapes out of tangrams. Tangrams are ancient Chinese puzzles made up of 7 pieces. The students spent math class today trying to manipulate the shape pieces to create some animals shapes. It was very tricky!!! We learned an important lesson in math: perseverance. Because we worked so hard on our geometry station today, we did not get through our book lesson. There will be no math homework tonight. Special thanks to instructional coach, Mrs. Backey for helping us today!
